Scorpions Partner With CE for USSDA Programs

The San Antonio Scorpions/CE have joined forces to provide the best players in the City the opportunity to be a part  of the  US Soccer Development Academy Program in the U14 U16 and U18 age-groups as a part of the newly formed  San Antonio Scorpions Youth Academy. This now gives San Antonio soccer players a clear path through the youth game to the professional game.

The US Soccer Development Academy program is a USSF ( Federation ) National  League split up into Regional Divisions  throughout various parts of the Country were youth soccer is  considered to be at it’s peak regarding the development of players who have gone on to the College,Pro and National level.  The goal of US Soccer is to have every Academy program eventually be a part of the MLS and NASL Leagues .

“The US Soccer Development Academy  is the most competitive youth soccer level in the Country  and we want to work together in and with the community to develop the future soccer stars”, Howard Cornfield, President of the San Antonio Scorpions said.

Development Academy Program  will be under the direction of Scorpions Head Coach Tim Hankinson and CE Director Brian Monaghan. Paul McGinlay, Head Soccer Coach for Trinity University  will be  the Director of Player Personnel . McGinlay  a  20+ year veteran of San Antonio soccer added ” the Goal and Vision is to make the Scorpions  Academy  a citywide soccer program and attract the best players from various clubs in the community, to be a part of the youth/professional set up ”

The Academy Teams will  be under the guidance  of coaches from both  CE and Scorpions for the 2013/14 season as they join forces for the good of the program and San Antonio  Scorpions Youth Soccer.

“Soccer is now firmly a part of the American culture and for those players serious about the game who dream of one day becoming a professional they now have an opportunity in San Antonio to move this dream further ahead by training, developing and playing in the Scorpions Academy program in the most competitive youth development league in the Country “, CE Director Brian Monaghan said.

“Player identification and development through the ScorpionsAcademy program will ensure that San Antonio will be a part of our USA National teams programs. Wrapping specialized training and experiences along with the National Academy  schedule of competition will accelerate the growth of our players,” Scorpions Head Coach Tim Hankinson said.
