AUSTIN, Texas (Saturday, June 8, 2013) — The Austin Aztex needed two goals at the closing minutes of the game to keep their undefeated record intact as they dispatched the Houston Dutch Lions 2-1 in Houston.

Both teams fought hard throughout the entire match, as players from both squads worked tirelessly to get to the ball. The Aztex tested the Dutch Lions by maintaining possession for long periods of the game.

The Houston Dutch Lions were able to open the scoring in the 40th minute when Jelle van Kruijssen intercepted a clearance from the Aztex defense and slid the ball past Aztex goalkeeper Devin Cook.

The Aztex were able to tie the game in the 82nd minute when the referee awarded a penalty kick to the Aztex after Tucker Hume was held by his defender while going for a ball in the penalty area. Aztex defender Leone Cruz took the penalty kick and sent a low, driven shot to the left past Dutch Lions goalkeeper Jaimy Schaap.

However, the Aztex continued to press and would not settle for just a tie. Their hard work paid off during stoppage time when Tony Rocha was able to send a cross in front of goal. Tucker Hume scored with a diving header.

The Aztex return to House Park for their next game when they host the El Paso Patriots on June 15. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
