COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Annie Kunz scored the game’s lone goal and the Texas A&M defense logged its 14th shutout of the season as the No. 15 Aggies defeated Stephen F. Austin, 1-0, in NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship first round action at Ellis Field on Friday evening.
With the win, Texas A&M improved to 18-4-1 overall and the Aggies will advance to the second round to play the winner of Saturday’s match between Oakland and Ohio State. The second round game will be played next Friday in Tallahassee, Fla.
SFA’s best season in program history came to a close with a 17-4-0 mark. The 17 wins are a program best.

AUSTIN, Texas – A goal from Texas Tech’s Dawn Ward in the 58th minute lifted the Red Raiders to a 1-0 victory over Texas on Friday evening inside Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field. Ward took a deflected shot from freshman Janine Beckie and pushed a ball past Texas freshman goalkeeper Abby Smith, who finished the contest with a career-high eight saves.
The loss was Texas’ (6-7-1, 3-1-0 Big 12) first since a 1-0 setback at Utah on Sept. 8 and snapped a five-game unbeaten streak. The goal by Ward was also the first allowed by the Longhorns in 353:24, since Denver’s Kristen Hamilton scored at 84:13 to tie the match at 3-3 on Sept. 16

SAN ANTONIO- UTSA outshot Louisiana Tech 20-8, but Laura LeFevour’s goal in the 97th minute gave the visiting Lady Techsters a 1-0 win over UTSA on Sunday afternoon at the Rec Sports Complex.
Despite playing with 10 on the pitch for the final 41 minutes, the Louisiana Tech improved to 11-1-3 overall and 3-0-1 in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Roadrunners fell to 2-10-2 and 1-1-2 in league action.

SAN ANTONIO- Sophomore Liv Nyhegn put UTSA on top early in the second half, but Seattle rallied for the equalizer and the teams battled to a 1-1 tie on Friday night in a rainy Western Athletic Conference (WAC) opener for both squads.
After a scoreless opening stanza, the Roadrunners (1-7-1, 0-0-1 WAC) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute when Nyhegn scored off a rebound near the goal. Junior Anka Grotle started the play with a shot that bounced off the crossbar before Nyhegn popped the ball over the head of goalkeeper Brianna Smallidge and into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After a scoreless first half, Utah’s Jill Robison struck for a goal at 55:30 off an assist from Katie Taylor to lift the Utes to a 1-0 victory over Texas at Ute Field on Saturday afternoon. Robison lobbed the ball over the outstretched arms of Texas sophomore goalkeeper Ava Vogel for the score.
After Texas spent the majority of the first 10 minutes of the match in the attacking third, the Longhorns registered the contest’s first shot at 11:46 on an attempt from sophomore Allison Smith. The attempt was blocked and did not get through to Utah keeper Lindsey Luke. Continue reading
