SAN ANTONIO- Sophomore Liv Nyhegn put UTSA on top early in the second half, but Seattle rallied for the equalizer and the teams battled to a 1-1 tie on Friday night in a rainy Western Athletic Conference (WAC) opener for both squads.
After a scoreless opening stanza, the Roadrunners (1-7-1, 0-0-1 WAC) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute when Nyhegn scored off a rebound near the goal. Junior Anka Grotle started the play with a shot that bounced off the crossbar before Nyhegn popped the ball over the head of goalkeeper Brianna Smallidge and into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
